Big News: Harry Potter Movie #6 Moved to Next Summer

Just found this out yesterday: The sixth Harry Potter movie, which was set to release on November 21, 2008, has been moved to next summer. It will release on July 17, 2009. That's a huge decision for the studio to make!
In place of Harry Potter, on November 21, 2008, we will witness the release of the first movie based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling Twilight book series. The movie is called "Twilight" and is based on the teen vampire romance novel of the same name. Expect LOTS of interest and buzz surrounding the releases of both of these movies.
NOTE: The Twilight series is not directly related to Wicca itself, though it does contain references to vampires.
If you haven't purchased Gen Hex yet, snap up a copy and read up on the trend of witchcraft before these influential movies come out! Here's the link to buy the book on Amazon: amazon.com/Generation-Hex-Understanding-Subtle-Dangers/dp/0736924019/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219083894&sr=8-1

  1. I just left a note on Mr. Burroughs' blog regarding this subject, but I wanted to get your take on it, since you were the one who made the "Twilight" comment on WGRC's interview today. Why have you included the "Twilight" series in your discussion on Wicca?

After my children's friends recommended this series, I read it. That is the usual procedure in our house when an author is recommended. I will admit to beginning the first book already intending to tell the kids they could not read it. To my great surprise, I liked the books! Among other things, they are very strong in their abstinence message, and they don't have a lot of language that needs to be filtered.

Yes, there is a teenage romance, along with a GIANT dose of fantasy, but I fail to see the Wiccan influence in this series, other than the idea of extra-human powers. If that is what you are basing your connection on, then Superman needs to be included, as well.

Seriously, though, I have done some serious research of the Wiccan belief system, due to the fact that a cousin was sucked into their vortex several years ago. I feel that the inclusion of "Twilight" in today's discussion was misleading. If you have a problem with the fantasy, the vampires, the werewolves, whatever, that is a separate issue. But if you are going to bring it up, you need to be able to defend it. And I feel that you need to be very careful when making these comparisons, as an error in one thing will call into question your judgement in others.
