Know Before You GO: It's Wicca Awareness Month!

Hard to believe that October's here. I know that we all have football games, Oktoberfest, pumpkins, falling leaves, hot chocolate, Halloween and other fall-related festivities on the brain, but let's not forget to be a light to the world. In fact, why not join us in our commitment to make October Wicca awareness month?

Wicca is America's most popular form of witchcraft. Its popularity is skyrocketing, and its membership doubles at least every 30 months. Yet many of us still don't know what Wicca is or how to carry on a compelling spiritual dialogue with a person of a Wiccan, Pagan or New Age belief system.

If that describes you, never fear - GENERATION HEX is here! Dillon Burroughs and I have written an informative book on the topic of Wicca that will help you learn about this trend. We interviewed over 20 Wiccans and pagans (some of whom later became Christians), and we include their powerful personal stories in the book. We give a simple overview of what Wicca is, what Wiccans believe, how influential it has become, and more. We also compare and contrast Wicca with Christian beliefs. We've received fantastic feedback from many Wiccans and pagans, and we know of at least two  Wiccans who have already accepted Christ as a result of hearing our radio interviews.

Here is what one former witch wrote to us recently: "In serious desperation, I picked up a copy of your book this past weekend. I was happy to get it, as it was the only copy of its kind on the shelf. Words cannot express how much it has helped me, and I want to sincerely thank you both... I want to commend you for talking about this subject and encourage you to do more. I'd love to see another book about people who have come out of the craft... Bless you for having the love and courage to write the book Generation Hex." -N.H., California

This month, I am offering a special: you can order Generation Hex directly from me, autographed, for $8. Simply mail me a check, and I'll mail you the book. You can also purchase the book on amazon.com or at any local bookstore.  For more info, please e-mail me at marla_alupoaicei@yahoo.com! Thank you for helping to spread the word about Wicca Awareness Month! I appreciate your support.

  3. Merry Meet!

I am a proud Wiccan and ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.

Wicca is one of many beautiful religions. There is nothing evil about it, nor should anyone fear of its practices. For the former wiccans that left to become christian, all that means that that Wicca wasn't the right path for them. We all should choose the path the fits well us.

Wicca is an modern revival of the ancient pagan belief of Europe. These pagan beliefs consist of Celtic, Nordic, Roman traditions. The Christian holidays (christmas and easter) also derived from these pagan traditions.

Wiccans don't worship, nor do we believe in the devil, the devil is an Judeo-Christian concept of fear.

As far as the title Generation "Hex", Wiccan do NOT put hexes on people. We have a law called the Wiccan Rede which states "An it Harm NONE, do as ye wilt", which means you can do what you want as long as it harms no one including yourself. We use spells as a form of prayer.

If someone wants to know about Wicca, ask a wiccan.
The authors of this book say that they interviewed current and former wiccan before they wrote this book. But i am pretty sure they used their own biased opinion and left out important positive information of Wicca when writing their book.

May i add that all faiths follow the ONE God. Each faith see the divine differently. All Gods are one God.

Unfortunately for the Authors of this book, Wicca isn't going away. They can use all the scare tactics they want. We will continue to grow. In the U.S, Wiccans recieve the same religious freedoms as Christians and other faiths. The US Dept. of V.A granted a widow her right to put a gravestone ingraved with a wiccan pentacle on her wiccan husband's (who died in iraq) site. There are Wiccan churches, wiccan clegypeople lead worship in the military, and prisons. We help out in our local communities. We are people just like you.

My church the universal life church motto is "we are one ", simply means we must co-exist.

    Blessed Be!

    Reverend Michael

  4. You stated that wicca will be the 3rd largest religion by 2012, here is a list of the 10 top religion as of 2001, by adherents.com

Top Ten ORGANIZED Religions in the United States, 2001
    (self-identification, ARIS)
[Nonreligious, Atheist, Agnostic have been dropped from this list.]

Religion 2001 Est Adult Pop. 2004 Est. Total Pop. % of U.S. 2001
    Christianity 159,030,000 224,437,959 76.5%
    Judaism 2,831,000 3,995,371 1.3%
    Islam 1,104,000 1,558,068 0.5%
    Buddhism 1,082,000 1,527,019 0.5%
    Hinduism 766,000 1,081,051 0.4%
    Unitarian Universalist 629,000 887,703 0.3%
    Wiccan/Pagan/Druid 307,000 433,267 0.1%
    Spiritualist 116,000 163,710 0.05%
    Native American Religion 103,000 145,363 0.05%
    Baha'i 84,000 118,549 0.04%

Wicca is now the 7th largest religion as of 2001. But if add all the Earth-based faiths( Unitarian Universalist, wicca/pagan/druid, spirtualist, native american religion, and the baha'i faith, Earth-based spirituality is already the 3rd largest religion in the US, wicca included. If you want to get technical and add buddhist and hindus to the earth-based family making it the 2nd largest all ready at nearly 6 million strong( i didn't bother to add all them up)
